HTML5 will become increasingly important after recent massive hacker attacks on the Flash player. In Firefox browser Flash has recently only an option that you have to turn only. HTML5 is 4 properly supported in mobile Android devices until OS. Therefore, it was delightful to upgrade my old Lenovo A1_07 with OS 2.3 Gingerbread to Android OS 4.0.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

  • Lenovo A1_07 Upgrade to Android OS 4.0.4:
  • 1. Step on Windows-PC

The original ROM obtain, for example, from      http://dl.dropbox.com/u/85708136/ICS1.2.zipICS1.2.zip

248 MB  This File rename in

update.zip

    and copy to micro-SD-Card.

microSD200

     This requires a microSD adapter.
    2.Step on tablet Lenovo A1

The microSD card is in the additional microSD slot used (left of the charging cable connector).

Now start the tablet in update mode:

With his right hand, the tablet is kept and maintained at the same volume minus button pressed. Now with the other hand using the On button until the vibration and the logo appears. The volume minus button must continue to be held while the power switch is released.

lenovo-150b

a) realease power button    b) realease volume down button

The IdeaPad A1 now handles the update. When it is complete, a green triangle appears:

Normaly now should appear a wipe-menu:

VorReboot150

For me, the tablet turned off easily. When I turned it back to the power button, appeared in an endless loop, the start logo ...
In this case, turn off the tablet and accepts the microSD card out. Now you start as at the beginning (as in the update) with the two keys. Now finally released the wipe menu. Use the volume keys (down / up) you can navigate the menu. We put the marker on 'wipe data (factory reset)' and briefly press the power button.

NachWerkseinstellungsLauf200

You will still need the marking 'Yes - delete ...' set and confirm with the power button briefly:

DeleteUserData150

If the factory settings are finished, the device reports (below in yellow):

    Wipe data ok.

Wipe cache ok.

    Factory data install ok.
    Please restart system now.
The marker is now in 'reboot system now'. You start with a short pressing the power button. After a few minutes, the Tablet reports A1_07 the first time in the look of the Android OS 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich:

  • Summary:

The upgrade went playing easily. In the settings your language and date / time will be set to automatic. After Wi-Fi is set up, you can load more applications from the Google Play Store.
For example, the browser Firefox and Google Chrome to install. With Firefox, the HTML / CSS3 application "Virtual tour Ferienpark Tulai" is called. Amazing! It all boils and function menus. But unfortunately, everything goes a bit 'reluctantly'. The response to the inputs is spongy. One can clearly see that the old hardware does not really fit to the new software.

  • OS4-mitHTML5-200 Even with the Google Chrome there is no pleasure to look at the jerky application.
      • But 'normal' websites you can look at already.
Since I like to play music from TuneIn via Bluetooth to my JBL-GO-Box has been installed and tested next TuneIn. It can be everything wonderfully install and the music is received. In the settings under Bluetooth can be as usual to carry out the paring. The nasty surprise: The stream is fragmented and transmitted distorted! Also Paring other Bluetoth receivers does not help.
Since it is precisely these Bluetooth function a high priority for me is (but also images and information on the tablet are displayed nicely), I'll Tablet downgrade again!

  • Lenovo A1_07 Downgrade to Android OS 2.3.4:

1. Step on Windows-PC
The original ROM obtain, for example from

http://download.lenovo.com/slates/a1/OTA/A107W0_A234_001_015_2643_ROW.zip

A107W0_A234_001_015_2643_ROW.zip    164 MB

This File rename  update.zip  and copy to micro-SD-card.

Now follow the same steps as when upgrading (see above)

If everything has run properly, the final step is carried out:  'reboot system now'.

Thereafter, the Tablet reports A1_07 the first time in the look of the Android OS 2.3.4 Gingerbread

After the settings TuneIn has been installed and Bluetooth streaming clean again the music for JBL-GO-Box.

Firefox comes with HTML5 / CSS3 application with regard to the control of the menu items, etc. liquid cope - but it sets the ball Images incorrectly into strips together.

Summary: Throughout the Upgrade / Downgrade has the certainty brought that respect can achieve a lot with the older Tablet Lenovo A1_07 the modern HTML5 / CSS3 technology not. Important functions such as Bluetooth may be unusable even after an upgrade. With smart phones / tablets, it is unfortunately the case that you have to buy new equipment at shorter intervals, because the old hardware does not or does not fully work with the new OS.

Supplement: Now I have found a browser: Dolphin for Android from 2.3 with the Dolphin Jetpack for HTML5 support, the sophisticated HTML5 application "Virtual tour Ferienpark Tulai" on the tablet with OS 2.3.4 correctly represent A1_07 The only drawback is, of course. the insane slow speed, which is due to the weak older hardware:
